Methodology

Our Courses utilize the following steps towards Cultural Competency:

Awareness: Understanding of participant‘s own culture, and that of the 'other‘ - Both the differences and similarities, and why these have arisen as a strategy to manage problems encountered in society.
Acceptance: Accepting that both participant‘s own culture, and that of the 'other‘ are acceptable strategies employed by their respective societies to deal with their local realities - neither is 'right‘ or 'wrong‘, and neither is inherently 'better‘ than the other.
Adaptation: Gradually employing specific methods and aspects from the 'other‘ culture in order to function more effectively, while still maintaining personal ethics and standards.
